Vision
Cathedral Church of Christ, Lagos
This prayer initiative has been put together in view of the challenges that the nation has faced over the years, as well as the existential threat that the nation currently faces; particularly as we approach the upcoming elections (on the 25th of February and 11th March respectively) that will be critical for the destiny of the nation.
In response to this, the platform – ‘Prayer Watch Nigeria’ – has been created to encourage and mobilise prayer for Nigeria amongst Nigerians in the Diaspora, as well as amongst people from other nations who love Nigeria and who appreciate God’s prophetic plans for the nation. The aim is that, whilst most people in the diaspora may not be able to participate in the voting process, we can certainly play our part in shaping the future of the nation in the place of prayer.
The first phase of the initiative on this platform, will be the 21 days of prayer, from 4th February to 24th February, leading up to the elections. Thereafter (beyond the elections), the aim is to continue to galvanise prayer from time to time as we continue to birth the prophetic plans and purposes of God for the nation. The prayers over 21 days will take place from 9pm to 10 pm (UK time) and will be led each day by a Christian leader.
Praying for an end to the tyranny of evil and wickedness that has held the nation in a stranglehold; Praying for righteousness, peace and justice in the nation; Praying for an end to corruption, insecurities and the persecution of Christians – amongst many other ills in the society; Praying for God’s will and for peace in the upcoming elections; and Praying for the kingdom of God and His will to be established in the nation.
